The Yokogawa YHC4150X is a rugged, handheld, full-function HART® Communicator. It is designed to configure, poll, test, and trim all HART-compatible field devices (such as pressure transmitters, flowmeters, and temperature sensors) during commissioning, operational tracking, and routine maintenance.

Important Considerations (Precautions)

• Battery Restrictions: For maintaining the Intrinsically Safe (IS) certification in hazardous locations, only manufacturer-approved AA alkaline batteries must be used. Never use rechargeable NiMH/Li-ion batteries or change batteries inside a classified hazardous area.
• Loop Resistance Requirement: The communicator requires a minimum loop resistance of 250 ohms to facilitate proper HART digital modulation. If the loop resistance is too low, connect the included 250-ohm shunt resistor in series with the loop.
• The Dongle Interface: The top Odu connector requires the specialized Yokogawa communication dongle to split paths between AC power charging and PC serial communication. Do not attempt to force non-standard cables into this port.
• Firmware Syncing: When pairing with a PC to synchronize “As-Found/As-Left” device data via Document Management System (DMS) software, ensure the PC’s utility tool matches the communicator’s current firmware revision.
