The Telemecanique Sensors XULM06031 (by Schneider Electric) is a compact, general-purpose retro-reflective (reflex) photoelectric sensor. Designed for industrial object detection, it features an integrated relay output, wide multi-voltage AC/DC power supply compatibility, and a pre-wired 2-meter cable connection.

The sensor operates by emitting an infrared light beam toward a reflector (such as the standard XUZC80 reflector). When an object passes between the sensor and reflector, breaking the returned light beam, the internal relay output toggles.

Important Usage & Installation Precautions

• Reflector Requirement: As a retro-reflective sensor, it requires a retro-reflector (e.g., Telemecanique XUZC80) placed opposite the sensor to operate.
• Output Load Limits: Relay output switching current must not exceed 100 mA. For driving higher current loads or heavy motors, connect an intermediate control relay or contactor.
• Cable Wiring: Pay close attention to the 5-wire color-coding scheme to correctly separate the 24–240 V AC/DC supply lines from the dry relay output contacts.
• Optical Alignment & Cleanliness: Ensure clear alignment between the sensor lens and reflector. Periodically clean the PMMA lens surface to prevent dust build-up from scattering the infrared beam.
• Highly Reflective Objects: Standard retro-reflective sensors may occasionally misinterpret shiny or highly reflective target surfaces (such as polished metals or mirror surfaces) as the reflector itself. Use a polarized reflex sensor variant if detecting mirror-like surfaces.
