Description

Schneider LTMEV40FM Voltage Measurement Extension Module

Product Overview

The Schneider Electric LTMEV40FM is an expansion module for the TeSys T smart motor management system. It connects directly to an LTMR motor management controller to expand its monitoring capabilities and discrete control I/O.

While the base LTMR controller monitors current and basic diagnostics, the LTMEV40FM adds 3-phase voltage measurement (enabling active power, reactive power, power factor, and energy monitoring) along with 4 additional 100–240 V AC discrete logic inputs.

Key Advantages

  • Comprehensive Power & Energy Monitoring: Expands basic current monitoring into a full energy management system by tracking power factor (cos⁡ϕ\cos\phicosϕ), active power (kWkWkW), reactive power (kVARkVARkVAR), and total energy consumption (kWhkWhkWh).
  • Enhanced Protection Capabilities: Enables voltage-based protections such as over/undervoltage, phase voltage imbalance, phase loss, reverse phase sequence, and power factor alarms.
  • Expanded Digital I/O: Provides 4 additional AC inputs for auxiliary signals (e.g., local selector switches, limit switches, trip signals).
  • Compact Modular Design: Easily snaps onto DIN rails alongside the main LTMR controller without requiring extra cabinet depth.
  • Wide Voltage Compatibility: Works across international standard distribution networks up to 690 V AC.

Important Usage & Installation Precautions

  • Auxiliary Power Supply Match: Ensure the supply voltage provided to the module matches 100–240 V AC. (Note: For 24 V DC system configurations, the LTMEV40BD variant must be used instead).
  • Terminal Wiring & Fusing: Install appropriate external fuse protection on the voltage sensing lines connected to the L1,L2,L3L_1, L_2, L_3L1,L2,L3 measurement terminals to prevent short-circuit risks during potential module faults.
  • Controller Compatibility: The expansion module derives its communication directly from the main LTMR controller; ensure proper connection with the provided ribbon cable before powering up the system.
  • Enclosure Protection: Rated IP20. It must be installed inside an IP54-rated or higher electrical switchboard/cabinet when deployed in dusty or humid environments.
  • Phase Alignment: Ensure the voltage phase sequence wired to the LTMEV40FM (L1,L2,L3L_1, L_2, L_3L1,L2,L3) strictly matches the current transformer phase routing on the main LTMR controller for accurate power factor and power calculations.

Applications

  • Smart Motor Control Centers (MCC): Integrates motor protection and real-time power monitoring into centralized industrial process controllers.
  • Critical Process Automation: Used in oil & gas, mining, water treatment, and chemical plants where uninterrupted operation and early fault detection are critical.
  • Energy Management Systems (EMS): Provides granular, machine-level energy consumption tracking to support plant-wide energy efficiency initiatives.
  • Predictive Maintenance: Monitors voltage distortion, phase imbalance, and power factor changes over time to detect motor degradation before breakdown occurs.
