Foxboro RTD (Resistance Temperature Detector) is a precision platinum temperature sensor under Schneider Electric Foxboro brand. Its core principle is that the resistance of the platinum element changes linearly with temperature. It converts process temperature into resistance signal for DCS, transmitters and process controllers. The PR series RTD assemblies are available with single or dual sensing elements, equipped with stainless steel or Inconel protective sheath and optional thermowell, designed for industrial continuous temperature measurement in harsh process environments.

4. Notes / Precautions

1. Select proper sheath material and thermowell according to process medium, pressure and temperature to avoid corrosion or mechanical damage.
2. Choose 3-wire or 4-wire wiring for high accuracy requirement to eliminate wire resistance measurement error.
3. Avoid excessive bending, strong impact or vibration on the sensor probe during installation.
4. Keep sensor sheath fully immersed in measured medium to guarantee accurate reading; air gap will cause measurement deviation.
5. Do not exceed the maximum rated temperature and pressure of RTD assembly.
6. Regular inspection and calibration are recommended for long-term operation, especially in corrosive and high-humidity environments.
7. Keep cable away from high-power power cable to reduce electromagnetic interference.
