1. Product Description

FOXBORO Digital Input/Output Module (also known as FBM Discrete I/O Module) is a core field bus module of the I/A Series DCS system under Schneider Electric. It serves as the signal interface between field discrete devices and DCS control processors. Digital input channels collect on-off status signals from field equipment, such as limit switches, pressure switches, relay contacts and status feedback. Digital output channels send on/off control commands to drive field actuators, solenoid valves, contactors and pumps. The module communicates with the DCS controller via industrial fieldbus. It converts field discrete signals into digital data for the control system, and converts control logic commands into switch signals to control on-site equipment. It supports hot-swap installation and works with dedicated termination assemblies for wiring connection.

4. Notes / Precautions

1. Install inside control cabinet, avoid direct sunlight, condensation, corrosive gas and heavy vibration.
2. Must use matching Foxboro termination assembly (TA) for field wiring; do not use non-compliant terminal blocks.
3. Static protection is mandatory during module installation or replacement, wear anti-static wristband to avoid electrostatic damage to circuit board.
4. Check field wiring short-circuit before power on; overcurrent on field side may burn module channels.
5. Do not plug or unplug the module rapidly and frequently, follow the official hot-swap operation procedure.
6. Configure fail-safe parameters according to process safety requirements before commissioning.
7. Regularly check module status and backplane power supply; keep spare modules for emergency replacement.
8. Do not modify internal circuit or firmware; only use original FOXBORO spare parts for replacement.
