Description
BENDER RCM420-D-2 Residual current monitor
Product Dimensions:
1. Product Description
The RCM420-D-2 is designed to detect residual currents ($I_{\Delta}$) in electrical installations. It measures the sum of currents through a connected external through-type current transformer. By providing real-time monitoring and two separately adjustable response values (pre-warning and main alarm), it allows maintenance teams to react to faults before they lead to unexpected shutdowns.

3. Product Advantages
-
Preventive Maintenance: Detects insulation deterioration at an early stage, preventing fire hazards and system downtime.
-
High Flexibility: Wide range of adjustable response values ($10 \text{ mA}$ to $10 \text{ A}$) and time delays.
-
Real-time Visibility: The LC display shows the currently measured residual current, making troubleshooting much faster.
-
Selectivity: Adjustable time delays help avoid “nuisance tripping” caused by transient currents.
-
Communication: RS-485 interface allows for integration into building automation and remote monitoring systems.
4. Key Applications
-
Data Centers: Continuous monitoring of power distribution units (PDUs) to prevent unexpected server outages.
-
Industrial Plants: Monitoring of motor feeders, production lines, and sensitive electronic equipment.
-
Hospitals: Ensuring the reliability of power in non-medical areas (for medical locations, Bender’s EDS/IPS systems are used).
-
Renewable Energy: Monitoring of solar inverters and wind turbine control circuits.
-
Building Management: Fire protection in public buildings by monitoring leakage currents.
5. Important Safety Precautions & Notes
-
Current Transformer (CT) Selection: The RCM420-D-2 must be used with a compatible Bender CTBC series or W series measuring current transformer.
-
Installation: All current-carrying conductors (L1, L2, L3, and N) must pass through the transformer. The PE (protective earth) conductor must not pass through the transformer.
-
Setting the Threshold: Ensure the response value is set above the system’s inherent leakage current to avoid false alarms.
-
Testing: Regularly use the “Test” button to verify the functional integrity of the device and the output relays.
