The Bender CTAC120 is a highly sensitive, window-type measuring current transformer (CT) from the LINETRAXX® CTAC series. It is specifically designed to work in conjunction with Bender’s residual current monitors (RCM/RCMS series) and insulation fault location systems (EDS series).
Product Detailed Description
The CTAC120 is an essential component for monitoring residual currents in earthed (TN/TT) systems or locating insulation faults in unearthed (IT) systems. It features a large 120 mm inner diameter, allowing it to accommodate large cable bundles or busbars. By encircling all current-carrying conductors (including the neutral, but excluding the protective earth), the CTAC120 detects the vector sum of currents; any non-zero result indicates a leakage or fault current.

Important Considerations (Precautions)
- Conductor Routing: All active conductors (L1, L2, L3, and N) must pass through the CT window. The protective earth (PE) conductor must never pass through the CT.
- Shielding: Do not route shielded cables through the CTAC120. If a shielded cable must pass through, the shield must be pulled back and grounded outside the CT window.
- Centering: For maximum accuracy, conductors should be centered within the transformer and not bent sharply immediately before or after the CT.
- Testing: Regular “bump tests” via the connected RCM device are recommended to ensure the entire measurement loop is operational.
