The DECS-100 is a versatile, compact digital excitation system that can function as a Voltage Regulator (AVR), a Manual Current Regulator (FCR), a Power Factor (PF) Controller, or a Var Controller. It features an advanced microprocessor that utilizes pulse-width-modulated (PWM) power electronics to deliver up to 7 Adc of continuous excitation current. Important Considerations & Precautions

  • Minimum Field Resistance: Always verify that the generator’s exciter field resistance meets the minimum requirements (9 \Omega or 18 \Omega depending on configuration). Operating below this threshold will damage the output power stage of the DECS-100.
  • Grounding & Shielding: To prevent electromagnetic interference (EMI) from corrupting sensor inputs, all CT (Current Transformer) and PT (Potential Transformer) secondary wires must be shielded, and shields must be grounded at the regulator end only.
  • Configuration Verification: Before flashing firmware or applying line voltage to the generator, use the BESTCOMS software to cross-verify that the sensing configurations (Single vs. Three-Phase) match the actual physical wiring.
  • Heat Dissipation: Mount the unit vertically on a flat, unpainted metal surface to ensure optimal heat dissipation through its integrated heatsink chassis.
