The AutomationDirect D2-12TR is a relay output expansion module designed for the DirectLOGIC 205 (DL205) Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) series. It provides 12 isolated relay output points for switching AC and DC loads in industrial automation systems.

This module installs directly into any available slot of a DL205 base (except the CPU slot), expanding the physical I/O capacity of the system.

Important Usage & Installation Precautions

• Inductive Load Protection: Relay contacts driving inductive loads (solenoids, contactor coils, relays) produce high-voltage inductive spikes when switching OFF. External flyback diodes (for DC loads) or RC snubbers/varistors (for AC loads) must be installed across the load to prevent contact arcing and premature contact failure.
• Common Current Limits: Do not exceed the 7 A maximum total current per common group, even if individual channel ratings permit higher cumulative loads.
• Power Supply Sourcing: Ensure the DL205 base power supply can deliver the required 250 mA at 5 V DC consumed by this module when all output points are energized.
• Minimum Load Requirement: Ensure connected loads draw at least 5 mA @ 5 V DC to guarantee reliable contact closure and self-cleaning.
• Hot-Swapping Prohibited: Power off the PLC base power supply before removing or inserting the module or terminal block to avoid damaging internal components.
