The AutomationDirect P2-16NE3 is a high-density, 16-channel AC/DC discrete input module designed for the Productivity2000 (P2000) Programmable Controller system.

It accepts a wide operational voltage range of 24V AC or DC, supporting both sinking and sourcing (sinking/sourcing) input configurations. It converts field signals from sensors, switches, and pushbuttons into logic-level signals used by the Productivity2000 CPU.

Important Usage & Installation Precautions

• Separate Terminal Block Purchase: The module does not include the wiring connector by default. You must order either a removable terminal block (P2-RTB or P2-RTB-1) or a ZIPLink cable/connector kit.
• Isolated Common Limits: Do not exceed the maximum insulation voltage between the two isolated commons (1800V RMS field-to-backplane; ensure individual common voltages remain within safe system limits).
• Sensor Leakage Current Management: When connecting 2-wire solid-state sensors (proximity or photoelectric sensors), ensure sensor leakage current in the OFF state does not exceed 1.0 mA to prevent false ON signals.
• Backplane Power Calculation: Verify that the total current draw of all modules on the base unit does not exceed the power supply output capacity (P2-16NE3 consumes approximately 40 mA from the internal 3.3V backplane power).
• Wiring Tightening Torque: When using screw terminal blocks (P2-RTB), torque terminal screws to 0.22–0.25 N·m (1.9–2.2 lb-in) to prevent loose connections or stripped terminal threads.
