The SB822 module acts as an optical bus expansion adapter for S800 I/O stations. When an I/O system spans multiple control cabinets or wide physical areas, electrical ModuleBus connections become susceptible to electromagnetic noise and signal degradation over long cable runs. The SB822 converts electrical ModuleBus signals into optical signals (and vice versa), enabling high-speed, noise-immune data transfer between local and remote I/O clusters via fiber optic cables.
