The FSM4000 consists of a primary flow sensor (e.g., SE41F or SE21) paired with an AC-field or DC-field transmitter (such as the S4 transmitter module). Unlike standard electromagnetic flowmeters that rely exclusively on pulsed DC excitation, the FSM4000 features advanced AC high-frequency field excitation capability. Important Considerations & Warnings
- Fluid Conductivity: The measured liquid must meet the minimum electrical conductivity threshold (\ge 20 \ \muS/cm). It cannot measure non-conductive fluids like demineralized water, hydrocarbons, or gases.
- Grounding Requirements: Proper grounding is essential for accurate operation. Always install grounding rings or ground the sensor flanges directly to the process fluid to eliminate stray currents and voltage offsets.
- Straight Pipe Runs: Ensure adequate straight pipe runs before and after the meter—typically at least 5 \times D upstream and 2 \times D downstream (where D is nominal pipe diameter)—to avoid flow profile distortion from valves or elbows.
- Full Pipe Condition: The sensor body must remain completely full of fluid during measurement; trapped air or partially filled pipes will cause significant measurement errors.
