The AI890 module interfaces between hazardous area field sensors and the safe area control system (such as ABB Ability™ System 800xA). It includes built-in intrinsic safety barriers, eliminating the need for external third-party barriers when connecting to sensors located in Zone 0, 1, or 2.
Each of its 8 channels is individually isolated and designed to receive standard 4–20 mA signals from 2-wire or 3-wire transmitters.
