With increasing pressure from time and cost constraints and a persistent talent shortage, the switchgear and switchgear manufacturing industries are facing enormous challenges. Every link in the chain urgently needs to accelerate efficiency improvements to break through these difficulties, and the power distribution technology field is no exception. Against this backdrop, RiTar’s next-generation power distribution platform—RiLineX—has emerged.
RiLineX, as an innovative product, can significantly improve planning efficiency and increase the installation speed of 60mm busbar systems by 75%, bringing new development opportunities to the industry.
Pain Points of Traditional Applications
Control panel installation has always been a time-consuming and labor-intensive task. For equipment engineering companies, the planning and installation process is extremely complex. At the same time, there is a severe shortage of skilled professionals, further exacerbating the industry’s predicament. Even the 60mm busbar technology, introduced in the early 2000s, still cannot fully meet practical needs due to issues such as size requirements, necessitating further optimization.
In traditional busbar system installations, installing flat copper busbars (60mm spacing) requires appropriate brackets and must meet the specific spacing and short-circuit withstand current requirements of the project. However, this makes it impossible to install components in specific locations, and space occupancy must be considered during the planning and design phase. Furthermore, exposed contacts pose safety risks. To protect personnel, plastic protective covers must be cut to the appropriate size before commissioning, which not only generates waste and plastic waste (an average of 1.9kg of plastic waste is generated per system when cutting protective covers to size) but also adds extra work time.
Rittal’s new generation RiLineX power distribution platform represents a major breakthrough, significantly accelerating planning and installation.
1. Easy Installation
In the new busbar system, copper busbars require no special support and can be directly snapped onto the power distribution base plate.
This means users can plan or install components in any location without worrying about space constraints, making the planning process more flexible and efficient.
2. Enhanced Protection
This system requires no complex cutting; the protective cover is integrated directly onto the copper busbar from the outset, providing reliable safety for operators. The cover has an IP2XB protection rating, blocking solid foreign objects with a diameter of 12mm or greater. The front cover can be upgraded to IP3X, blocking solid foreign objects as small as 2.5mm in diameter, and eliminating the possibility of accidental contact.
This design enables Rittal to provide a short-circuit current withstand capability of up to 65kA, providing planners and users with a completely safe solution.
RiLineX is suitable for AC voltage applications up to 1,000V and DC voltage applications up to 1,500V, offering a wide range of applications.
3. Increased Efficiency
Reduced workload from planning and design to assembly and maintenance, improving project efficiency.
Up to 30% less design work and 75% less assembly work.
The innovative base plate and component overlap system simplifies installation and facilitates easy implementation of modular solutions for specific projects.
Modular design makes the base plate easy to maintain, providing convenience for users.
4. Flexible Configuration: The open, modular system offers complete freedom in configuration. It can be designed to reach lengths of 2.4m or even longer according to customer requirements, and further enhances system flexibility through rack-mount connectors. Users only need to know the length of the mounting base plate to flexibly combine modules in 200mm increments. Rittal’s standard mounting base plate uses the same installation method; users simply cut standard busbars according to system dimensions and then securely fix the copper busbars to the base plate to ensure the system’s short-circuit withstand capability.
The system also offers kits without copper busbars. In international applications, this eliminates the need to transport heavy metals from one continent to another, saving costs and benefiting the environment. RiLineX base plates can be used at the installation site with copper or aluminum busbars of various cross-sections (offering high cost-effectiveness). Even subsequent rack-mounting is very simple. Rittal’s new RiPower configuration system provides support during the planning phase, helping users better complete project planning.
5. Looking to the Future
This system will offer a three-pole solution with current up to 800A, and a four-pole system will be launched in the future. Furthermore, the platform is suitable for DC applications and will play a vital role in industrial applications, especially in the renewable energy sector. The RiLinex baseplate can be installed horizontally in parallel cabinets or vertically in IT and other applications, meeting the installation needs of different scenarios.
In the future, RiLineX will take a new approach, deeply empowering the transformation and upgrading of China’s manufacturing industry, and working hand in hand with customers and partners towards a smarter and more sustainable industrial future.
